Kara and I have different ideas about when it’s ok to start listening to Christmas music and put up Christmas decorations. I’m definitely an after-Thanksgiving person. She’s more likely to think Oct 1st is a good time. We work it out though. She listens to Christmas songs with her headphones on and I can continue to focus on my fantasy football team in peace.
The holiday season is very busy so it’s never to early to get a jump on your shopping list. There are a couple of great Christmas Bazaars coming up in the next couple weeks that are a great place to get a head start.
The Gift
You’ll notice we’ve got a nice big banner for The Gift in our sidebar (over there –>), because for the first time ever we are creating Middle Kingdom Blog themed stuff and we’ll have a booth to sell our wares. We’ve got t-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers and physical copies of our Newcomers Guide and Driver’s License Guide. So stop by our booth, say hello and pick up some sweet swag.

The Gift will be happening next Sunday, November 20th from 11am to 4pm at the Canadian International School. There will be live music, lucky draws, food, a Rickshaw Roasters coffee booth and more. It’s put on by our good friends at Stage One productions, and a portion of all proceeds will be going to charity.
BCIS Winter Bazaar 2011
Beijing City International School (who also happen to be a proud sponsor of The Middle Kingdom blog) in conjunction with MCF (a non-profit organization that works for educational opportunities for disadvantaged children living in Beijing), will be holding a Winter Bazaar on Saturday 26th November 2011 from 10:00am to 4:00pm in the BCIS Atrium. The bazaar is not only to celebrate the festive season, but also to raise funds and awareness for BCIS projects and charity purposes. The funds raised will be used to support the migrant schools projects in Beijing.
A variety of vendors will be present during this one day event, with over 60 Christmas shopping stalls providing a range of products, live music and performances, a raffle draw, wine tasting, Christmas tree lighting, children’s corner and entertainment. Also Santa Claus will be there. It’s a free event, so please save the date as it is a great way to pick up Christmas gifts and cards, and have fun at the same time.
