If you’re moving to Beijing, hopefully you’ve found the info here at The Middle Kingdom blog to helpful, but if you’re still a bit overwhelmed and have a lot of questions about life in Beijing we offer one-on-one Skype Consultations. Sometimes it’s just a lot more helpful if you can actually talk to someone who is in Beijing and has gone through the transition process before. We’re happy to talk through how to find an apartment, what neighborhood to live in, schooling options for kids, language study options, transportation, and anything else. We might not have every answer, but we will do our best to help you out.
We charge $19 for a 45 minute consultation and you can pay using Paypal.
If you are ready to set up a Skype appointment you can click here. We will be sending contact you by email within 48 hours of scheduling an appointment to work out a time for the call. Kara does most of the consultations. If you have any specific topics you’d like to talk about feel free to email us ahead of time and we can do a little bit of pre-Skype research. We look forward to talking to you soon.

My 18 year old daughter has just accepted a post as a nanny in Beijing for 3 months (university summer). She originally sent her resume to an agency hiring nanny’s for FRANCE because she speaks French and it was ‘hijacked’ by the China Department who intrigued her with the promise of ‘Asian Adventure’. When I think China I think about political unrest, pollution and adulterated food. Obviously there are wonderful things in Beijing — perhaps you are the people (besides her host family) who will help her find them. She is supposed to study by day while the 5 year old boy is in school. The lady is a ‘stay at home mom’ (is this normal in China?) … you can see we have questions. We would love to skype with you. Please e-mail me back to let me know if this will work and I will use PayPal to pay you and set up a meeting very soon. Andrea
